Questioning is a powerful alternative to making statements.

A good question is often much better than a defensive remark, or a counter-accusation, for all sorts of situations. Using an open question (What. How. especially) is a simple and effective technique for resisting forceful or bullying pressure. Using questions, rather than statements and guesses, is also very effective for building trust, diffusing conflict, understanding situations, managing other people, teaching, training, and parenting. Traditionally, questioning is regarded as mainly a selling skill, but it’s powerful and productive in virtually every circumstance involving human cooperation.

Anyone can be a leader – inspiring others, helping others, making a positive difference to someone or something. Leadership is most effective and easiest when it is adaptable. Explore different theories of leadership – they each offer adaptable methods, styles, etc.

What’s the most powerful rule of negotiating.

Have an alternative.

Be able to walk away.

This simple principle is often ignored, particularly because as buyers or sellers we all tend to focus and fixate on a single option, which quickly creates a dependence on it, which produces pressure (including time/deadline) to agree a deal, which weakens our position, and strengthens the position of the other side.

Nudge theory helps us understand why we fixate on a single option, and why the apparent desirability of a single option increases.

The Psychological Contract are additionally very useful models and tools in planning and assisting others through change.

Pareto’s 80-20 Theory is very useful for problem-solving, decision-making, downsizing, optimization, streamlining, and all sorts of evaluation and change, in business, organizations, and personal life too.

  • Understanding yourself, and how your priorities change through life.
  • Understanding this in others.
  • Teaching and exploring this with others.
  • Understanding how to motivate and relate to people of different ages.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US.

Degree in organizational development

Our company was very pleased with the SelfStir 360 tool, it was easy to use, very intuitive and gave great flexibility for our first-time using a multi-rater tool. Our staff team was able to incorporate the results into our existing performance review system with candid and specific feedback. Staff morale and communication are greatly improved and I believe the honest dialogue prompted by this tool was largely responsible for our increase in overall staff satisfaction.

Degree in organizational development

I’m familiar with a broad range of feedback tools and chose to use SelfStir because of its amazing flexibility. SelfStir proved to be a great asset to the Leadership program we were running for a client. We integrated SelfStir into the program with transparency and choice so that participants were fully enrolled and engaged in their feedback and development. I was also delighted with the excellent and rapid support we received throughout the process. I’ll be using SelfStir again and have already recommended it to others.

Degree in organizational development

Many THANKS for sharing what you offer. I love your approach and thinking.

Degree in organizational development

It became necessary for us to make performance review process as close to continuous and real-time as possible. Another important requirement was the ability to customize review for each employee, based on the job function and competency and performance band. I’m glad we chose SelfStir, with it’s customizable features and simple setup. Working with the team has been a real pleasure. I would definitely recommend SelfStir as a 360 solution.

Degree in organizational development

We are seeking a 360 tool to be used organization-wide. Your tool hits the mark with flying colors.

Degree in organizational development

I want to thank you so much for your help. I’m not very electronic, and your patience made me feel like I was the only person in the world! Your SelfStir service is amazing and your commitment to helping people has inspired me. I took the 360 with a conference I attended and focused on feedback with my family. It has helped me a lot at a great time. You are making a real difference in the world! God bless you and your team.

Degree in organizational development

This really works to help get accurate and timely feedback. I enjoyed the journal feature and also the integration that comes with it. I would recommend this to anyone.

Degree in organizational development

It worked. Thank you SO MUCH!! I know you went above and beyond what you needed to do for me! I will tell others about my experience. If you ever need a testimonial let me know! Very appreciative.

Operations Level Agreement (OLA) for Backup and Recovery / Backup SLA

This Operating Level Agreement (OLA) specific for Backup and Recovery is not just a template containing a generic OLA-structure, it does contain backup and recovery specific content!

This template supports the creation of an OLA with the Backup Team about

  • Backup
  • Retention and
  • Recovery

Filesystem Backup and Restore and Database Backup and Restore are covered in separate chapters.

In addition to basic backup and restore service this template addresses advanced backup and recovery methods and tape cloning and offsite storage.

In case of outsourced Backup and Recovery Services or partially outsourced. e.g. the related Sub-Service of tape storage at offsite location – the section about “Right to Audit” is of high importance.

This Mercury template contains a comprehensive list of services provided / tasks done by the Backup Team.

Usage Tip: In case that the project team does not request (and pay for) certain (extended) services, the author suggests to rather check the checkbox “NO” (best with an explanation) than to delete those from the agreement. This avoids discussions about “we were not aware that this is not included” which usually start after some unpleasant things happened.

For more details about the content of this template please check the Table of Contents

OLA’s are agreements between different IS/IT-departments,
the SLA is the overall agreement between IS/IT and the business department.

Background Information: An introduction into Operations Level Agreements (OLA) and the difference to Service Level Agreements (SLA)

The four terms “Operations Level Agreement”, “Operational Level Agreements”, “Operating Level Agreements” and “Organizational Level Agreement” are used equal in relevant published literature.

Online Degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Essential Information

Master’s degree programs in industrial-organizational psychology are available fully online and in hybrid formats, as are doctoral programs. A master’s degree is typically considered the terminal degree for practicing industrial-organizational psychologists, but doctoral programs exist for those interested in research, postsecondary teaching, upper-level management, or consulting positions in this field. Doctoral programs require a master’s degree for admission.

In addition to online courses, students completing the doctoral program may need to meet a residency requirement, which could lead to them attending on campus functions or seminars to meet with professors and discuss dissertations. Those interested in a master’s degree may be required to complete an applied research project.

M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology is often offered as a focus within a Master of Science in Psychology, or as a dedicated Master of Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology (MAOIP) degree program. Industrial/organizational psychology applies psychological principles to improvement of life in the workforce, organizational analysis and development, productivity maximization and job counseling.

Program Information and Requirements

A master’s program typically takes 2-3 years to complete, with several online program options. Students need access to a computer with high-speed Internet access. Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology

At the doctoral level, students take a more clinical approach to industrial/organizational psychology. Individuals aspiring to be an independent consultant, work in a corporate upper-management position. They are also able to teach I-O psychology at colleges and universities. Applicants must have a master’s degree.

Program Information and Requirements

An online doctoral program in industrial/organization psychology typically takes 5-7 years to complete. Distance learning students may need to meet with faculty advisors on campus a few times while writing their dissertation. Students need a computer with high-speed Internet access. Outside the brief residencies, communication with instructors and classmates is conducted by e-mail. Instructors combine traditional texts with online presentations.

Course Topics

Courses at the doctoral level continue to build upon fundamental principles introduced in the master’s degree, with the curriculum consisting primarily of specialized seminars and self-directed research. Ph.D. candidates write a dissertation presenting original I-O psychology research.

Basic Principles of Organizational Development

Students analyze market and human variables that contribute to organizational success. Office culture is explored, with a focus on the language, business and management structures. Students also look at marketing, finance, strategic planning, personnel, accounting and organizational design.

Personality and Psychology

Contemporary psychological theories of personality and contemporary approached in personality assessment, including biological, behaviorist, trait and skill, social-cognitive, existentialist and humanist are explored. The course also calls attention to gender, individual and cultural variables contributing to personality.

Ethics and Standards

Students look at the origin and history of the professional code of ethics and standards of practice. Special topics of interest broached are confidentiality, the client-provider relationship, research ethics, cultural variables and ethical issues in personality assessment.

Career Information

As opposed to clinical psychologists who work extensively with clients in one-on-one or group counseling, industrial/organizational psychologists spend their time conducting research and analysis for corporations in an effort to identify areas of weakness and formulate solutions. Individuals with a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology often work in human resources, consulting and government.

A report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimated a 19% growth in employment for industrial/organizational psychologists from 2014-2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. The median annual salary for industrial/organizational psychologists was $77,350 in May 2015, according to the BLS.

Continuing Education Information

Since industrial/organizational psychologists do not need to be licensed for clinical work, they can practice with a master’s degree. Although a doctorate is not required of I/O psychologists, unlike other psychologists, doctoral programs are available online and on-campus for research and more advanced study.

There are fully online programs in industrial-organizational psychology offered at both the master’s and doctoral degree levels. Most industrial-organizational psychology jobs, such as positions in human resources, require a master’s degree, but those wanting to do research and teaching will need to earn a doctoral degree.

Majors

Albright’s ADP curriculum features an accelerated seminar format with intense use of the Internet as well as additional computer technology. Interaction between students is emphasized and much of this collaboration involves applied group activities.

While traditional classes meet 40-44 hours per semester, Albright’s ADP courses meet for four hours per evening for five to seven weeks. Remaining class time is fulfilled by a combination of Internet usage and independent study.

Through a special partnership with Reading Area Community College, Delaware County Community College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Montgomery County Community College, Northampton Community College, and Warren County Community College, most associate degrees (A.A. or A.S.) from these colleges transfer fully to Albright ADP (and acceptance is automatic if all Albright transfer admissions criteria are met.) Albright College offers a $2,500-3,200 Partner Scholarship based on GPA to graduates of these colleges. (Any applicant with an Associates Degree is eligible for a $2,500 scholarship.)

ADP offers bachelor’s degrees in:

Accounting: The accelerated program in accounting prepares students for careers in public and private accounting and in obtaining professional certifications. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate school program.

Business Administration: The accelerated program in business administration prepares students for a wide variety of careers in finance, banking, marketing and management. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate school program.

Crime & Justice: The accelerated program in crime and justice involves an analysis of criminal deviance and its roots, plus an in-depth understanding of our criminal justice system’s successes and failures. Unlike other criminal justice programs, students are not trained specifically for police work. Rather, students are educated in the academic study of crime, criminology and justice in preparation for a variety of positions within the criminal justice system.

Digital Communications: Albright College offers one of the only evening accelerated-hybrid programs in Digital Communications in the area. Focus on strategic communication across media platforms including publications, videos, and websites in the Albright College Digital Communications program. (This program is currently offered exclusively at our Reading location.)

Computer and Information Systems: The accelerated program in information systems is based on common structures and degree programs in the United States and Canada. It also meets the recommendation of the Association for Computing Machinery, which sets a variety of standards in technology fields, as well as graduate study programs.

Organizational Behavior / Applied Psychology: The accelerated program in organizational behavior / applied psychology prepares students for a wide variety of careers in social services, management, human resources, training and development. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate program.

Information Systems and Management: Albright s distinctive new major in information systems and management (ISAM) is designed to provide students with both the technical skills and the business acumen required to excel in information systems and business environments.
