The Tarrant County Bar Association has over 40 programs and committees that address the needs of lawyers in Tarrant County. Additionally, it has a number of programs that provide attorneys in the county opportunities to help the local community in general. These programs have won recognition and awards from the State Bar of Texas and community organizations time and time again.
The committees depend upon the active participation of the members of the Tarrant County Bar Association to be successful. Serving on a committee not only helps to keep Bar activities meaningful, but offers a great way to network with other attorneys in the area, and provides an opportunity for Tarrant County lawyers to become involved in their profession and community.
History of the Tarrant County Bar Association
Our Association was established officially in 1904 to improve the character of practice in the various courts of the city and county, Fort Worth in the early 1900s had more than 150 lawyers, and there was a concern that not all were upholding the highest standards of the profession. Over the next one hundred years, the Association held several names Tarrant County Bar Association; Fort Worth Bar Association; Fort Worth and Tarrant County Bar Association and Fort Worth-Tarrant County Bar Association. Since 1980, it has held the name of Tarrant County Bar Association. With each new name, the Bar Association has confronted many challenges from struggling to provide needed services to adapting to sweeping changes in the profession. Dynamic individuals and firms have pioneered those changes, particularly in terms of age, race and gender issues.
To advance the science of jurisprudence; to facilitate and improve the administration of justice; to maintain and to elevate standards of professional conduct; to increase professional skills through regular continuing legal education; and to encourage and promote a better understanding of the legal profession to the public.
The Tarrant County Bar Association was established in 1904 and is a voluntary bar association, open to all attorneys licensed to practice in Texas. The Bar year runs from July 1 through June 30. See our membership page for more membership information.

The bar center offers 6,700 square feet of offices and meeting space including a formal Board Room, a small conference room and 3,00 square feet Conference Center area which can be divided into 3 sections for arbitration services, mediation services, individual committee or group meetings, or used in its full capacity for luncheons, seminars or special events, offering seating for 150 people.
The Association has various CLE events and activities including a bi-monthly CLE luncheon and bi-monthly Docket Call Social. See the calendar for the schedule of events.

Tarrant County Bar Foundation
The Tarrant County Bar Foundation is a charitable organization formed under the Tarrant County Bar Association. The Foundation was established in 1997 to support and expand its commitment to justice, service and professionalism by funding important community service projects which provide crucial legal services to needy citizens, and educational opportunities to the public about their legal rights and responsibilities.
The Tarrant County Bar Foundation has been granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. The voluntary tax-deductible donations from its membership support the Foundation and its programs.

For The Public
TCBA has a full-time staff that is available to answer questions about the Association, membership and services. However, for the community, there is NO licensed staff attorney, and legal advice cannot be secured by contacting the Bar Association’s office.
Need A Lawyer?
Do you need an attorney? The TCBA offers a Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). You can complete the information on the form if you click the ‘Need a Lawyer’ button at the top of this website, OR you can telephone 817.336.4101 from 8:30am to 4:30pm, weekdays. You will be given the name of an attorney who practices in the applicable area, and who is licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Contact us today!!
