I’ll had this insurance policy since 1994 never had any major claims, can’t understand why the denial of my claim for windstrom damages. The inspector came out inspected the home said all the rooms were leaking except

2. The home wasn’t leaking until the windstroms occur. This is one of the reason consumers pay for home owner insurance so if something of this nature happens the insurance helps with the cost of repairs.

The cost to replaced our roof is 2,560.00 which we didn’t have. and to think of all the money we’ve been paying them since 1994 and our claim was denied.I ask them to send another inspector out, they decline. Our home is in good conditions,we take pride in the up keep of our home. Not one strom but two stroms came through our city and other cities near by and cause a lot of damage. My neighbors insurance companies acknowledge there claims ,when our were denied by Home First Insurance. We really need this reviewed and somthing done about our claim being denied.

I was told the damages came from wear and tear,if so my home wasn’t leaking and shingels weren’t missing until the stroms came through and aggavated it.Therefore we think we’er entitle to something from the claims that was made to Home First Unsurance. It was and act of nature our policy covered windstroms.

    Who built the first automobile?

It’s hard to credit a single person with inventing the automobile. Not only did an estimated 100,000 patents lead to cars as we know them, but people also disagree on what qualifies as the first true automobile. For historians who think that early steam-powered road vehicles fit the bill, the answer is Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot, a French military engineer who in 1769 built a steam-powered tricycle for hauling artillery. The vehicle’s single front wheel performed both steering and driving functions, and it could travel at 2.25 miles per hour with four passengers aboard for about 15 minutes. At that point Cugnot’s fardier à vapeur, as it was known, would need to rest in order to recuperate enough power to move again.

Although ideal for trains, early steam engines added so much weight that they proved inefficient for vehicles traveling on regular roads rather than on rails. (Cugnot’s second model weighed 8,000 pounds and had a tendency to tip forward when it wasn’t hauling heavy artillery behind it.) As a result, some observers argue that the first true automobile was gasoline-powered. They point to not one but two inventors: Karl Friedrich Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. The two men, who had never met previously, filed their patents on the same day—January 29, 1886—in two different German cities. Benz’s three-wheeled vehicle, which he first drove in 1885, was the first to combine an internal combustion engine with an integrated chassis, while Daimler’s motorized carriage (invented with his collaborator, Wilhelm Maybach) was the world’s first four-wheeled automobile and featured the first high-speech gasoline engine.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel V-6 First Drive – Review – Car and Driver #2014

    #

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel V-6

As if Jeep’s Grand Cherokee didn’t have enough iterations—gas V-6 or V-8, rear- or four-wheel drive, fire-breathing SRT. etc.—the model’s 2014 refresh brings with it a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6. The update also includes new exterior lighting, resculpted front and rear styling, and an updated interior.

VM Motori Cento in Ferrara, Italy, produces the engine, which will be marketed under the EcoDiesel name. It features a block of compacted graphite iron and aluminum twin-cam heads. Basic specs for the 60-degree six include common-rail injection, downstream emissions treatment via urea, a 15.5:1 compression ratio, and ceramic glow plugs so quick to heat up they might well consign mentions of glow plugs to history. Adding to the allure of the diesel is that, like the 2014 GC’s gas-fired engines, it is backed by a ZF-designed eight-speed automatic. (That last move is one we applaud, as we had problems with the five-speed auto in our long-term 2011 V-6 Grand Cherokee.

    I Twist, Therefore I Tow

Output ratings have the sort of relationship typical of diesels: decent horsepower at 240 and impressive torque at 420 lb-ft. The grunt is enough to imbue the diesel Grand Cherokee with the same towing capacities—7400 pounds with rear-wheel drive, 7200 with four-wheel drive—as those of the 5.7-liter V-8 model. Of perhaps equal importance, of course, are fuel-economy ratings. Jeep pegs the rear-drive EcoDiesel at 22 mpg city/30 highway; opting for four driven wheels sacrifices 1 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway. The range is said to be more than 730 miles.

At idle, this Grand Cherokee further puts to rest old stereotypes about diesel engines. Although the EcoDiesel emits the typical compression-ignition clatter, it’s no louder or intrusive than is the V-8, even from the outside. And the torque is great fun; it provides instant punch for day-to-day dicing in traffic. Mind you, it peaks at 2000 rpm and the redline is 4800, but the high number of forward gears means you’ll almost never find yourself wanting for more muscle.

The 2014 Grand Cherokee drives pretty much the same as did the prerefresh model, which means a comfy ride, a serene cabin, a generous dollop of body roll, a stiff platform, and a refined demeanor. As for the diesel, the transition for anyone trading in a Hemi model would be seamless. As nice as the Pentastar V-6 can be, the diesel and the V-8 have far more authority off the line (weak launch skills were among the few complaints lodged against our long-term V-6). For most buyers, choosing between the torquier engines will be a flip of the coin, although the increased range and less-frequent fill-ups of the diesel might prove irresistible, especially for those who live in snowier climes.

Urea for the diesel is carried in an eight-gallon tank. It is replenished via a filler located behind the fuel door and next to the filler for the diesel fuel. A full load of urea should last about 10,000 miles; this aligns with recommended service intervals so the dealer can top it up. The mix of 32.5-percent high-purity urea and 67.5-percent deionized water runs about six to eight bucks per gallon.

But no one ever said being fuel conscious would be cheap. Indeed, the VM diesel is only available on the three top Grand Cherokee models and adds $4500 to the cost of a Limited, Overland, or rear-wheel-drive Summit. (All-wheel drive runs $2000 on the Limited and $3000 on the Overland and Summit.) Getting the diesel in the all-wheel-drive Summit is an extra $5000.

But the up- and downsides are common knowledge to the classic diesel fan. In that regard, we’re preaching to the choir. We eagerly await, however, take-rate figures for the Grand Cherokee diesel among those who have been gasoholics. And will they stay in the fold? This is a story we’re excited to watch unfold.
