Post Bariatric Surgery

Obesity affects two of every three people. For those morbidly obese patients, dieting and exercise just doesn’t work. Their excessive weight adversely affects their quality of life and that of their families. They are in constant discomfort with aching joints and backs. They are high risk candidates to develop heart disease, diabetes or cancer. For them bariatric surgery is their only hope, and their last resort.

Most bariatric surgeries performed are gastric bypasses. A gastric bypass sections off a section of the stomach and re-routes food to the small intestine. This results in less food intake and a reduction in the calories absorbed by the body.

One drawback to bariatric surgery is that over time the loss of pounds may result in large pockets of loose, sagging, unattractive, excess skin. This excessive skin can continue to interfere with daily activities such as walking, exercise or just looking good.

Your Florida Cosmetic Surgeon

Prior to undergoing any bariatric procedure it is important to consult with your Florida Cosmetic Surgeon. Together you can plan to deal with removing the final mark of your obesity the excess skin left behind after your body loses weight.

Body Contouring

Body contouring can improve your figure and remove the excess skin and fatty deposits that are left after your bariatric surgery.

At Florida Cosmetic Surgery Center, our plastic surgeons perform post-bariatric body contouring surgeries for patients in the Orlando region and can combine liposuction with excisional body lifting. Generally body lifting is divided into the central body and trunk lift, the inner thigh lift, the arm lift and a breast lift or reduction.

The Post-Bariatric Procedures

Depending on the extent of your surgery, your procedure can take from thirty minutes to several hours. It can be performed under local anesthesia, which numbs the area, combined with a sedative to make you drowsy, or your surgeon may use an epidural block instead. For more extensive liposuction and/or excisional surgery, a general anesthesia may be used.

Liposuction is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed today.

Liposuction surgery is performed to actually remove unwanted, localized deposits of fat cells from the body. A suction tube is inserted through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location on the skin. With a high-pressure vacuum, fat cells are extracted through this tube. The result is a re-sculpting of bulging areas into more attractive contours. Once removed, the fat cells are gone forever.

Excisional Surgery

Excisional surgery is combined with liposuction when the patient has excessive folds of skin. An incision is made and concealed as best as possible. The skin is tightened, re-draped and the excess skin is removed. Sutures are used to close the incision.

How Many Procedures will I Need?

Depending on the amount of correction needed and the number of areas that need correction, your surgeon may advise you to undergo multiple procedures to keep the procedures manageable and safe.

What will my Recovery be Like?

After our surgeon performs your post-bariatric surgery, you will go home and rest for at least twenty-four hours, after which you may gradually increase your activity as tolerated. Some discomfort and pain is to be expected, but it can be controlled with medication. The bandage over the incision site will be removed the day after surgery and you will be able to shower. Generally, it is necessary to wear a light compression garment for two to three weeks after your surgery. All sutures are internal and absorbable. After two to three days, you may resume most non-strenuous activities. Most patients return to work after one to two weeks. Sports and other strenuous activities are prohibited for at least two months.

How will my Skin Look after Surgery?

During the first ten to fourteen days, you will be bruised at and around the surgical site. Scars will be red for the first few months, but they will gradually fade. Patients who have had liposuction will have more swelling than those who only had a lift performed. The use of smaller cannulas during your liposuction allows the fibrous connections between your skin and body to remain. These connections will contract over time, after which the excessive skin folds will be gone. Following your surgery, you will enjoy the new, more pleasing, youthful shape you desire.

California – s Rules For Sales of – Certified – Used Cars #certified #used #car,certified,used

Certified Used Cars

Did a car dealer tell you that you were purchasing a certified used car. Did the car not live up to your expectations? If so, California law may be able to help. Specifically, in addition to California s used car lemon law. which applies to all used automobiles sold with warranties, California Vehicle Code Section 11713.18 imposes mandatory requirements for all automobiles that car dealers sell as certified pre-owned vehicles, or which are described using any similar terms.

Requirements For Certified Used Cars

The first (and one of the most important) requirement applicable to certified pre-owned automobiles sold in California is that car dealerships are not allowed to describe a used car as certified if it is being sold on an as-is basis. That means that at least some minimal warranty will likely accompany the sale of a certified used car, and therefore California s used car lemon law will typically apply.

Additionally, whenever a California used car dealer represents that a used car is certified, or describes it using any similar terms, then to the extent of what the dealer knows or should know. the following must all be true:

  1. the car s odometer must be accurate;
  2. the vehicle has not been repurchased under any state lemon law or the federal lemon law; and
  3. the automobile must not have previously sustained frame or unibody damage;

The following requirements also apply to certified used car sales, regardless of what the dealers actually know or should know:

  1. the vehicle s title (or titles if more than one state has issued a title) cannot previously have been branded as a lemon law buyback, or as a flood, junk, salvage, or nonrepairable vehicle;
  2. the car cannot have previously sustained damage in a collision, fire, or flood that (even after the repair of such damage) materially decreases its performance or safety; and
  3. the term certified cannot be employed by used car dealers in a manner that is untrue or misleading.

California law also mandates that prior to the sale of any certified used car the dealer must give the buyer a copy of the inspection report showing which specific components of the vehicle were inspected in the certification process. An example of a certified pre-owned automobile checklist is pictured below.

Modified Form Originally Created by the Reynolds Reynolds Company

Remedies Available if a Dealer Violates California s Certified Used Car Rules

California Vehicle Code Section 11713.18 provides powerful remedies for consumers damaged by dealers fraudulent or misleading use of the term certified (including any failure to comply with the above-listed rule). Specifically, Vehicle Code Section 11713.18 specifies that any violation of California s certified used car rules can be prosecuted under California s Consumers Legal Remedies Act. The Consumers Legal Remedies Act (or the CLRA as it is commonly referred to) is one of California s most powerful and useful consumer protection statutes. It permits car buyers to obtain compensatory damages, punitive damages (under some circumstances, and injunctions to force dealers to cease their illegal conduct. The CLRA also permits consumers to bring class actions on behalf of other consumers who are victims of the same illegal conduct.

Most importantly, the CLRA permits prevailing consumers to recover from defendant car dealerships their attorneys fees and court costs. That means that if a car dealer violated California s certified used car rules, then you can sue the dealer for breaking the law, and forced the dealer (and not you) to pay all of your lawyer s fees and court costs.
